Greetings from Disneyworld!

It’s our 1st time here and, for Disney fans like us, we’re excited to spend time with family for a mini-family reunion and to finally check out Disneyworld for the first time.  One of the greatest reasons why we love it is, frankly, a HUB of inspiration.

Whether you’re a photographer or bride, it’s so refreshing to find new inspiration.

As great as it is to look at other wedding editorials or photographers for inspiration, make sure you’re not just looking within the wedding world.

We find what stimulates our creativity most…is when we look outside:

In the fashion world.

In advertising.

In all forms of art,

whether it be fairly recent…

or from centuries ago.

The painting by Vermeer above is my all-time favorite painting.  The lighting, the shadow, the tender emotion captured.  It’s beautiful…and, what’s more amazing, profound in its simplicity.  These are definitely concepts I keep in mind when shooting weddings.

Who do you look at for inspiration?  Let us know!

Dedicated to Fathers and Mothers on the Wedding Day

July 18th, 2011

“First, I want to say that you are very special! and awesome! I didn’t know I was going to get a first look. However, the moment was breathtaking. It’s a father’s dream. Her hair, makeup, dress, they all made memories that will be with me for life – and your pictures show it.” – Chuck, […]

“First, I want to say that you are very special! and awesome! I didn’t know I was going to get a first look. However, the moment was breathtaking.

It’s a father’s dream.

Her hair, makeup, dress, they all made memories that will be with me for life – and your pictures show it.”

- Chuck, Father of the Bride

WOW!  You, your wife, and help were great.  It really was nice to see smiling faces on the other side of the camera.

Everyone seemed to be “in the moment” and caught up in Emily and Bob’s love for each other.

You truly captured pictures our family will enjoy for years.”

- Kay, Mother of the Bride

To us, after the bride and groom, the second most important people to capture, to take care of, are the parents.

When it comes to the mothers and fathers on the day of the wedding, we make it a priority to:

  • Memorize and call them by their names
  • Communicate upfront that we are there for them if they’d like any photos taken
  • Give them peace of mind knowing that not only are their children, the bride/groom, of great importance, but they, as parents that have waited (whether out of excitement or dread) for this day…are of great importance

To assure them that we will capture the emotions

Real reactions

That last look

That last kiss goodbye to their little baby girl

Their smile when their son or daughter are announced for the grand entrance

The joy savored in that first dance

The laughter

The joy

And the precious tears

Here’s to the parents of all brides and grooms.  That day could not have been without you.

Ok, I know people may either love ‘em or hate ‘em…

But this is a movie we can both agree on.

Cannot believe how quickly time has flown since the 1st movie?!

I [Drexelle] didn’t expect to become a fan but, after receiving one of the books as a Christmas gift, I read through it in just a few days and finished all 7 soon after!  David and I love the story, cinematography, the cast of Professors, and the postproduction they’ve been using in the past few movies in particular.  Cannot wait to see how they end it.

Will it be true to the book?

What will be left out?

Counting down to watch the midnight showing of Harry Potter’s last movie in IMAX!  Who’s with us?!

A little video we LOVE in the spirit of the final movie’s release tonight!
