New year. New possibilities.
This time last year, we faced our first full year of being full-time photographers…and we had only 2 weddings booked.
Everything was uncertain.
Often we want to make our lives look so picture perfect – everything falls in its perfect place and perfect time. Look how pretty our pictures show our lives to be! But, as you live life…it can be so freakin’ messy. Chaotic. Uncertain.
That’s why I love the new year. It’s a new start to look out to a scary but anything-is-possible for these next 365 days. Every January, we have to push ourselves to dream again, to try again, to fail again, to get up again.
Know this for sure: If you’re going to pursue anything great in life, you’ll fail. You’ll make mistakes. You may not know what you’re doing half the time. And, because many people would rather take the safe route” in life, you’ll be moving against the flow of traffic. But how exhilarating a feeling it is to walk the other way!

the love story
Courtney and Calvin go all the way back to junior high. But they didn’t know it ’til college.
Apparently their worlds intersected since junior high. They went to the same high school, then college. But they didn’t meet ’til freshman year in college. In fact, after they dated, Courtney watched some old high school videos and actually saw Calvin walking around in the background! Small world.
It was love at first sight. Four years later, Calvin proposed on their favorite place on earth.
the romantic proposal
December in Disneyland is just magical. There’s just nothing like it around Christmas. Calvin took Courtney to Disneyland for her birthday. At the park, Calvin stepped away and handed Courtney an envelope that was labelled “Disney Challenge”.
Now, they’ve done scavenger hunts on previous dates so Courtney just thought it was just a fun game to play.
She went from clue to clue all around Disneyland and California Adventure. Cast members even participated and gave her the next clue.
But once she reached her favorite ride, Toy Story Mania, she saw Calvin…down on one knee with this amazing custom ring box he designed:
Amazing proposal with her favorite movie next to her favorite ride at her favorite date spot…with her best man. It was perfect.
the engagement
We fell in love with Courtney and Calvin from the first date. We all share a love for Disneyland. When we heard they were going to have their wedding there, we just about fainted. It was seriously something on my [Drexelle] bucket list to capture a love story there.
Then, when we heard they wanted photography depicting Disneyland for adults – a CHIC Disney, we cried in happiness.
…OK there weren’t tears but I definitely jumped up and down (you know, inside).
We worked with our amazing stylist, Connie Kim, and this awesome couple to create all the perfect details to make a Disney engagement session LIKE NO OTHER. We’re thankful to God for this awesome time and are happy to present this:

Speaking of chic, have you heard of the Disney Princess Designer Collection? GORGEOUS! They have modern haute couture dresses designed for each Disney princess and I wish…WISH…they had these gowns for sale. You know…just for some random…enchanted evening.
Anyhow, this AWESOME couple were so sweet to get me a surprise birthday gift:
Wouldn’t that gown just be perfect? *sigh*
And, by the way, did you know Disney bottled its own wine? Courtney + Calvin were so incredibly wonderful to us and gave us one after the e-session. We love you guys!
